Howdy all, Just returned this morning-fishing from Seaforth Landing in San Diego on the Legend. Fishing was tough for the whole fleet. Day started well enough, first jig stop produced 7 Albies and a yellowfin that went about 50lbs! After that it was 1 or 2 fish on the jig strikes (most on bare Cedar Plugs) followed by 1 to 4 bait fish. Fish ranged from 10 to 25 lbs. Florocarbon was a must on 25lb test and a 2/0 hook, bait was medium size sardines. I ended the day with 3 Albies. The Legend fishes really hard with a great Captain and crew. Not the biggest on luxuries, they make it up on fishing! Last note: Yellowfin was caught on a spinner - Go figure!

Thanks for the report Jigman,
Was out the 13th-14th. As a sugggestion, when the pick gets tought like that, drop down to 20lb fluorocarbon. It really made a big difference on our trip, the captain almost demanded we use 20 and it was the determining factor in our boats success. 50# Yellofin, gad zooks! It makes me wonder of there is a bigger population of YF and BF out there then we think. Everyone is always concentrating on the Albacore, mabe we should start thinking outside the BOX. Good to here you got to crank on some Albi's. Walt ![]() |

Hey Walt - sounds like a good idea on the line drop. As far as other fish in the area, we passed up a couple of Bluefin boils! Skipper said they won't bite - the boats had been chumming to them the last couple of days, some sitting on them for hours and they just will not eat a bait.
