WE finally received the very long awaited Alijos series reels from Okuma. This family of reels was formerly known as the Andros series. These are the jigging and bait pieces to complement Makaira and Tesoro series reels. Sizes are as they were before: 5N, 5, 12N, 12 full size AND 16 - all two speeds. For the 12N and 12, there's a high speed option available. The high speed 12N and 12 bump up the top end gear to 6.4:1 verses 4.7:1. The high speed version is best suited to wahoo and some more specialized jig work where speed of retrieve can be beneficial. The more standard geared 4.7:1 is best suited to bait fishing. The low gear is on the money with the smaller two reels 3.8:1 and the larger pieces 2.1:1 for the 12's and 1.3:1 on the 16. These are more like the Makaira series than before, all have a thrust bearing, all manufactured in Taiwan it appears.
