Has anybody used the Alutecnos Albacore 12 Gorilla reel. I see a lot of ads for it in the UK. Also more carp fishing information than I thought possible.

The guys in SE Florida are big fans of the "Gorilla" reel by Alutecnos. I've "played" with it at a local tackle shop here in Tampa and it's nice.

The machining is top-notch and seems to be very smooth. I have not heard what the stock drag is rated at though. Most guys seem to be fishing it as a 30 or 40lb reel.

My friend in Kona swears by these reels - he's a former second ticket on the Q105. Of course he's fishing the 130's and 50's.

But - he's fished their lighter gear as well and tells me to get rid of all my Accurates and make the move.

Does this mean I should keep the 30W/2 Alutecnos sitting in my reel bag? How much drag can one expect on the 30W?
