I would be very interested in any information on a shoot out between John's new conventional 4 reel versus the new Avet narrow hoo-x. I realize both products are relatively new and this request may be pre-mature, but I am posting this anyway.
Thanks, Mac |

This will be an interesting match. JB's reel is a bit heavier, and capable of higher drag settings. The HX is tremendousely versatile and capable. For now, JB's the new new kid on the block and the proof is in the pudd'n. This is the third generation of reels from Avet, and each time they are a bit more refined. On first impression, I'd say the JB is more robust. We'll know more in a few days time. John's on a 10 day trying to tame a cow on his "little" reels.

now about gear ratios and exact drag capabilities , price... ,weight etc. It is quite a chore to find these details even at a tackle shop, It seems to either be on the box or not, There is usually some reference as to line capacity (yards at line size ) which resembles the line test that is recommended but the drag at strike and max drag and gear ratio is usually only foretold on the really good reels. It really isn't standardized info. I have to see these numbers before I buy so that I don't buy something that I already have. I don't have duplicate set-ups. each one is unique in their own features. Thanks for any info to let me and others search for this type of info on-line THANKS !!!!
