Weather was great - fishing was not...

3 Days fishing for 2 striped marlin - 4 dorado to 40lbs.

Pitched baits to over 20 marlin - except they were dead ballyhoo. The 2 live mackeral we had were instant bites - the ballyhoo did not see any love.

Got to bend my new rod-wrap marlin pitch stick - it's ready for the So Cal season - hopefully...

Had the same problem last year in Cabo, ran out of live bait. (bummer), The captain gives us all 15lb set ups with small blue & white hoochies. We as they say, we made some bait. Small 1-3 lb bonitas. Caught several in short order. They did the trick. 1 252lb Blue Marlin and 1 61 lb Dodo in 1.5 hrs.s . Got to give credit to the Captain, on that one. From now on we bring small bait sticks, and some hoochies, just in case.

They do love those hoochies in the yellowfin as well - even after taking a look at 20 of my perfect tuna jigs - we'd end up jigging hoochies - and of course - they worked...
