Call Accurate and see if they have a replacement gear set in the ratio you are looking for. If this reel comes in the gear ratio you are wanting replacement should be fairly easy. I'm not familar with Accurate products though and could be wrong. If the gear ratio you "need" isn't available you could have a set of gears built by a machine shop that is set up to make gears but it would be cost prohibitive.
I'll probably have time today, only one more ewe to lamb, and I'll look into this for you.
Very cool. Thank you Keta. I was wondering about switching my 870 to the 870X and using it as my 40lb jig reel. Then I would buy a 2 speed 870 for my 40lb Baitstick. I think it was FLLR who told me this would be a hot setup for Guadalupe trips. What do you think Keta?
I don't even want to touch an Accurate reel, I'd probably end up bying a few.
There are people here that know more about a jig setup, I'd be guessing. I do use my mid size single speed reels (mostly Avets now) for bait and my 2 speed for iron and bombs. I could have this bassackwerds but it works for me.
I'd probably leave this reel at the original gear ratio and still get the two speed 870.
hello traptinarizona. may i suggest somthing , i live not to far from accurate , they will exchage your reel for an x series,( if its still new w/box or thay will charge you about 80$ for converting yours. i knock on there door about once a month to sneek /peek on whats new over there at accurate.
Damn Louie, That is awesome to live near Accurate. My reel has been used on about 3 3/4 day trips, but I still have the box. I don't think that will cut it as "new". That is definetly something to keep in mind.
ive tried it once to upgrade my 665 , used once when first came out they said no deal. but ill give you hint, accurate blue/silver has been rumored inside the buildind.
