should i remove the trebles and install one j hook to the rear only, what effects will happen, being new to popper fishing.

May be worth a tank test (pool) to see how it "pops" - I would think the single J hook in the rear is the right idea and shouldn't effect the popping.

Not sure if we're going to see the dodos this year - like we did last.

I agree ReelVeel, too long away from the albacore. Let's see, it was 2004 when the last good albacore run was. I remember watching on come out of the water and take my bait as I side cast it out away from the boat. Ah, the good ole' days.....

2004 was a good year, i remember on the spirt, we traveled offshore and ran in to 30 to 50 grade of albies , caught my five day limit. i was using a 15 pound outfit, man that was a thrill.
