are there any big differences in the new lx 2 speed and the old ones? And is there an upgrade available? I dont get to do much fishing and seen where they have more bearings in them now. last time i used mine it started to get hard to reel in. i sent it in but they said there was nothing wrong with it and just greased it a little. just dont want it to fail if there is a chance to upgrade it to the new style. thanks

Good question 2busy, I have 2 of the original LX's myself. They have operated flawlessly but I will be interested in any available upgrades.
So..... any comments on this issue would be appreciated.

Are you using heavy drag? They can get hard to crank as the drag increases due to sideload on the beaings.

I did have it set fairly heavy but it worked perfect the first day. the second day it started getting jerky on the retreive. especially if i had a fish on. i had to drop it in low gear to get even small fish in.

i am going out the last of march and hopefully it dont happen again.

i sent it to avet as soon as i got home last time. all they did was wipe a little grease on the gears.
