Howdy,

What would you all suggest for a harness for a guy with low back injury. I will be fishing mostly 30-60 lb. Last tuna trip I was tore up after pulling on 6 or so of them.

Thanks!
Chad

i have chronic low back injury due to a fifteen year old car crash. I like the smitty's but love the new Aftco belts.

I will say from a CHIROPRACTIor's point of view, anything that if your'e going to do it put your ass into-it !!1 relieving your stomach and around to your back. let your legs (VIA THE ASS ) take the "LOAD"

I'm a fan of Smitty's Spyder harness system. Braid produces a belt that may provide more back support, which may be helpful to you. The AFTCO is pretty much a copy of the Smitty system. We will also be posting those products, probably next week. We would have done so earlier but I wanted some time to play with 'em. In your situation, I lean towards the Braid 30500 (http://www.charkbait.com/cs/fighting.htm)

Great Stuff!

Mr Tuna,

Exercise like heck prior to the trip, drop a couple of pounds. I droped 15 #s for my trip, I wore a back support from the drug store...(like they wear at Home depot) and then always fished with a rod belt and harness of some sort.

Charbait has them all. One trick item was a sholder harness which I borrowed to hold up my 50 SDS for like two hours on the rail waiting for the bite of my life. I fought the big guy and won.

I have had two lower back surgeries at the L5 level, so I know it's crtical to protect my lower back from any potential stress and strain.
