Mark--Either reel will serve you very well. Both have awesome drags and are reasonably priced. These are your best bets.

If you want a two speed, take a look either the Accurate 665 2 speed or the Penn International 16 VSX. VSX is heavier but does not need as much maintenance as the Accurate. Accurate is in the same weight class as your Saltiga.

Hay Fudge,

What pound test (or Kg,s) are you fishing and do you use spectra backing? I have not used the other reels you talked about. What type of sharks and size? A little more info for us slow guys on the left coast (me) and maybe we can talk about other reels that may fit your needs.

with spectra backing, that alutecnos gorilla 12 looks hard to beat. 40 lbs. of drag and bulletproof!I'm looking at that one myself.

GLD doesn't have the drag of the other reels. Everol is the most cost effective solution. Gorilla and the accurate have the most drag. Accurate gives you the advantage of the two speed. Everol and Gorilla have been on the market longer so no glitches. Accurate just came out with the two speed.

I'm thinking about the everol now that the Pro Gear Oceanus 30 seems to have gone the way of the dinosaur. At least you can get parts.....

Have you looked at the Avet Pro Narrow 30 II speed. Runs about $429.00. If its a little overkill for you, drop down to the HX 5/2 which will run you about $409.00.
