I am considering either the HXW or HX Raptor for jigging for Tuna. I need mono top shot of 100 yards or more in 80 pound test. How many yards of 80# braid would I have in each size as backing? Thanks,

Raptor, good call, 100 yds mono on top, 80# test: HX 300 yds 80# braid leaves room for about 120 yds mono HXW 500 yds braid leaves room for about the same topper. Going 100 lb for the braid will put the numbers close to where you may want 'em at 80-100 yds on top. For a knot connection, often we'll suggest running the braid at one notch higher in test. For an inline leader connection going the same test is just fine since it's a 100% strong connection (not losing some test like a knot would). Great Stuff! Mark
