Mark, Beth, anyone..help!

I used my shiny new RED Accurate 2 speed this past week on a 12hr trip and plan to use it on Sunday and decided that the handle is not for me. After cranking all day the handle made my hand sore..might be that I have "girly" hands..no offense to Beth. Can I buy a decent replacement handle like the one on the platinum twin drag?

Hi Louie,

I bought the RED Charkbait Accurate 665 2 Speed and it has the rounded ball type handle with the holes in it. Will Accurate sell directly from their site? I did not see a link for that and Charkbait does not have the one I want.

accurate will not , i repeat will not sale direct, i have the regular 665 t type handle in the regular finish, or your gonna have to ask chark to have accurate make one in red.accurate only makes the red for chark , no one else.

Mark,

I want the same red handle that is shown in the picture for the red ADT model. Can you sell that handle in red or gold and will it work on the 665 2 speed? Can I switch out the knob end?

Accurate handles are the worst. I have owned them in the past. Can someone please tell me why they dont just
step up and make a good handle like the small Avets. You pay enough for these reels that you should not need to spend
another $60 for a handle. The round cheesegrater handles are just that. I was planning to buy all new Accurate 2 speeds
but I did not care for the handle, gear ratio, or the price.

Well...it was not my intention to start an Accurate bashing as their reels are truly a work of art and alot of people must like the rounded handles or they would not sell their newest products with them.

I do like my new 665 2 speed alot but the handle shape is just not my preference but I would not sell or shelve the reel just because of the handle. I do intent to change the handle to one that fits me better so I can truly say...I LOVE THIS REEL.

I found a source for an after market handle that might be better from Jigging Master and would buy it from Charkbait if they carried that line.

Agian, Accurate makes a fine product and I intend to buy another 665 2speed for my son if they produce a left handed version.

I am not bashing Accurate but its a fishing reel not art.

Sounds to me like you should have got the Avet HX 5/2 $200 less and they
throw in a great handle for free. You seem very interested in the Avet HX 5/2 on the
other forum. May be you could put an Avet handle on it, or trade it for one.

If you love all your other Avets as you say why would you buy a $600 reel with a handle you do not like, did you try one before you bought it? This has been an issue with the round Accurate handles for at least 2 years now. And to think your ready to buy another one LOL.

i go to accurate on a once a month basis , i live only miles from them. you can always ask to go in the finishing department and look and sea what handle you want, now they do carry some odd ball colors that can match your reel or your rod just ask thats all.

Angry Dad,

Despite the handle the reel is a work of art! I will say it over and over. I found a source for Jigging Master Handles and will buy one ASAP. If you do not like your Accurate then you might consider selling it on the classifieds here or on ebay and then pick up an Avet HX and then you can change your ID to Happy Dad.

Trapt,

Sorry only room for two kids in my family, my son and me! But you are welcome to visit anytime you come to New England.

Geek-

One mans art is another mans fishing reel.

Own 2 HX 5/2 and no longer own accurates, they are great reels but they are for people with lots of dollars and no cents.

Just keep throwing $$$$ at it and you may like it. (be careful not to scratch it)

Haha, thanks fishin geek. New England may be a bit out of the vacation budget for a few years. You should come down to our neck of the woods and fish San Diego this summer.
