I've got an Avet T Rex and an SX 5.3:1 . Both have a little slop in the anti-reverse so I had a look at the parts diagrams. It looks to me like Avet use dogs rather than anti-reverse bearings. If that's correct I'm very happy with my choices as I've seen ARBs give up on a few expensive reels in hard fighting situations. A little slop is a small price to pay for the simple effectiveness of a mechanical dog.Can someone tell me if I'm reading the schematics correctly? Thanks
You are correct. No anti-reverse roller bearings in Avets. They have a dog. Although it's a strong reel, I would love to see avet install a dual dog. Both of your reels are nice and you made a good choice.
What about the HX narrow? Double dog or single?. If the dimensions are OK (can't find them mentioned on this site ,so I've asked in a PM) I'd like to get one as a heavy duty jig reel for yellowtail 35kg and up. I've seen ARBs give up in this situation and have had a Blue heaven jam up (though that was my own fault for cranking up the drag to over 20kg on strike and pushing to sunset).
