Alright guys, Chark has talked me into making my own trolling leaders since all I have is time. It is probably something I need to learn. So I know I need a pair of crimpers and some crimps. Beyound that I am clueless how to get started.
I know I am not supposed to mix aluminum sleeves with wire leader. I know that I have to match the size of the crimps to the line. Other than that, I am clueless.
I am open to tips, suggestions and criticisms although I prefer the first two!!! For every helpful hint, Chark gets another sale!

T-Rex, I am now confused. As I read about the various crimps available, most of them say for mono or wire. Also, I have not seen any advertised Swaggers. I am not doubting what you are saying, I am now more confused than before I started this thread?

o.k. the wire crimping tool jaws have teeth that are male/female or half circle with an edge pushing into the curve side . The mono crimping tool's teeth are both open curved or barrel shaped. moer to know is the crimp goes sideways . the sleeve is turned on its side. I was thinking that each hole went into it's own slot but they don't. You must have patience and its a hands on thing to learn better by "feel". knots work but once crimping is done well, it can really be done while4 watching T.V. orf half drunk etc. No brainer I think is what tese smart-alec kids are saying theses sdaysses.
i always thought aluminum crimps are strictly for mono.the metal is too soft to effectively crimp down on wire,such as bronze,stainless wire.theres crimps available that are made of the same material as the wire.these crimps have two separate holes to isolate the wire when crimping.i used these when making up my shark leaders.i prefer the stiff wire which is a snap to use a haywire twist,eliminating the crimps. marcus
