Hey guys, I need your opinions. I am putting together a new setup. The reel will be an Avet EX wide wound with 60lb. Here is the question: I want a rod that I can troll with on mini long-range trips and will also serve as a good rail rod for mini & standard long-range trips. I prefer Cal Star. Any ideas?

IM USING A CALSTAR 760M /PENN 30 GRAFLITE REEL WRAPPED WITH STRAIGHT 60, YOU COULD ALWAYS BUMP IT UP TO 80. THIS SET UP IS STRONG,POWERFUL,AND MOST OF ALL ITS LIGHT ,FOR STAND UPS.
I have cast all roller rods with bait and it works rather well. The relative speed of a jig might cause some fraying. I believe that rollers are best for trolling as the same piece of line keeps going back and forth through the guides, causing wear with ring guides.Rollers take some practice, but actually cast quite well.
I hope I am not violating any spam issues here. I am not affiliated with these guys at all, but check out Deep-color.com. This guy wrapped a rod for me. He has developed a product for the grips for rail fishing. You might check his website out.

I am getting a SS-CJBF70XH wrapped by a buddy right now. I want to combine 60lb outfits and go as light as I can. I just got a new Penn 16VSX to match. I have a 80lb roller stick but it is heavy and short. Good for 200lb fish but I am not going over 5 days yet. The ultimate 60lb reel in my mind is the new Accurate Boss 665W 2 speed when it comes out. Light and strong.
