Hi All,

Is Owner Flyliner Hooks strong enough for bigger fish, say 100-130lbs BFT? Want to make some assist hooks with them.

Thoughts?

I wouldn't use them unless you are fishing very light drag.

What’s good? Bare with me, never done this before. I have:

- Octopus Straight Eye 4X Strong
- Owner Hooks - Gorilla Live Bait

Buy something else? I will be fishing 100g - 200g FlatFall Butterfly

Thank you

You can get bewitch pretty beefy hooks on a flatfall. The Owner Gorilla might work OK.

I'll run Flyliners for assists when my mainline is 60# and down. For heavier lines and drags I'm making good use of Eagle Claw Trokar TK8's, their Live Bait HD's. Better value than the Owner Gorilla's, equal or better hook in my estimation.

Great Stuff!

What size Eagle Claw Trokar TK8 Mark(for my size range Jigs)? Reason I asked cos I saw the original hooks that came with it were pretty small but saw some anglers using 40-60% bigger hooks replacement. Tuna got a big mouth so big hook should be a good thing but I think most play with sizes might be the action of the jig with different size hooks (just me thinking, correct me).

7/0 or 8/0 might be very appropriate. Mustad recently came out with some very good larger version assist hooks (which they sold out of, probably a month or so more before they are back). Those ranged into these larger sizes. I think the Trokars may be the right call, a tad longer shank than the Gorilla from Owner, very good point/sharpness and strength.

Typo!! "bewitch" was meant to be "by with".
