This is probably a question for the Chark staff. I have JB hollow spectra on my reels and as I posted in a previous post, I want to try a chineese finger trap secured by a simple overhand knot. My problem is I need needles to get the mono into the spectra.

When I look at Chark's site, I see 4 different products that may cover these bases:
1) Swifty Splicing Needle kit $39.97
2) Sato Starter Kit $139.99
3) Smitty Hollow Spectra Rigging Kit $89.99
4) JB Hollow Spectra Rigging Kit $89.99

My real question is would #1 be sufficient if all I wanted to do was splice the line into the spectra? I would rather spend $40 vs $90 vs $140? I may be answering my own question in that I may end up using the Sato system, but anyway, humor me.

Outhosue,

Sorry for the delay response, have not been on the board for months.

I have been slicing for 4 years and have fine tune the technique. When I got started I use the splicing needles (like the one from JB). Now I use a fine finger nail file to smooth the end of the fluoro. fluoro is stiff enough to run it into the hollow.

If you want to know how to splice check out the tips section of Blackwater International, Inc.
http://www.blackwaterinternationalinc.com/tech_tips.htm

In my early years of splicing I did have some failures. But the last couple of years I have not had any splicing failures. Practice helps.

Best of luck. Smiler

#1 is only good for up to 80. I'd suggest #3 or #4, they are just about the same and come with all the needles you need to splice and make loops & topshots. It seems to be spendy but after using my Burns set for the last two years I don't think I want to go back to the way I did it before.

I need to replace my small loop puller but haven't found individual needles anywhere but JB has small short latch hooks that work on 60lb JB hollow, for a good price. I don't know if Mark handles them but, if not, give JB a call his phone number is on the line spool.

We stock all the parts. Matt and Ross here are the guys to talk to about this stuff. As far as making loops, Mike is the man. Ross and Mike can be reached at our shop, Matt's at the warehouse more these days. Those guyus do it & know it... I'm simply minded, feeble and old school, usually just going with a Bimini and Albright.

Great Stuff!

Mark,
Do you sell individual loop pullers or a set of just loop pullers?

yes, If you can start making your own, you will be able to fish alot of different top shot customized and you'll only have yourself to blame if it fails. That will save alot of resentments and also a little bit of money possibly. GIVE 'EM hell harry !!!
