When i yoyo my Tady's and Salas 6x jrs, my jigs are twirling up because i am cranking it fast. Are they suppose to do that or are they suppose to swim like they do on the surface with side-to-side (with occasional kick) action on the way up?

IMO the jig should not spin while yo-yo jigging. You may be reeling to fast for your jig also just like surface iron all heavy jigs swim a little differently form one another even the same size iron made by the same company. Sometimes you have to go through a few to get the one that works best. It breaks my hart every time I lose a jig that works the best.

Drop the jig down 10-15' and crank it up so you can see how it swims. Adjust speed to where it works. If it doesn't swim, junk it... or like I suggested on BD, sell it to Jason it he thinks spinners are fine.

I’m not a believer in the in the theory of one “metal” jig swimming differently than another. Knowing how molten metal flows there is no way in hell jigs outa the same mold can swim differently. Other things come into account. Even the Knot can make a difference.

The thing about this jig in the same color and size and MFG. is a “GOOD ONE” and that one is just junk is fisherman’s superstition. Yes it is true that there might be a little thicker layer of paint here or there which might cause the jig to swim differently. But I tell ya any jigs you think don’t swim right ---send ‘em my way- I’ll use ‘em.

To answer your question—They is supposed to wiggle like a fish swimmin’. Depending on the reel your using (and I think some of the new reels are TOO high speed) you is probably crankin’ to fast. Put the same jig on a ol’ time Penn 500 at the same crank speed and I betcha it would work fine.

Then of course--YMMV.

twisted line can have alot to do with it.
cast out as far as possible and let it sink.
wind in at medium speed, let it untwist it self.

after a few throws, you should be fine.
also,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,speed,,,,,,,,, retrieve your iron at slow , then med, then fast.
this will allow you to know how fast your iron can handle.

Speed really affects the action, I like the Newells alot - but seems higher speed reels make jigs swim better. I'm usually throwing Salas or Sumo 7xs. Tried throwing the new tady 77's - you got to seriously wind to get any action out of a jig that big!

They are relatively each the same but not exactly the same, even the water current, temperature and revolution of the earth in connection to the sun is although minor it is yet an accountable variable upon which the differtences between a red jig and a blue one e3xpress their own "INDIVIDUALITY", Lets just hope that the fish are biting and all will be well, THANKS FOR THE TIME.
