Im looking for thoughts on a good bottom fishing reel for a 30lb set up that can handle spectra. I was thinking about possibly getting a level wind to save my thumb on long wind-ups from the bottom. Im not sure though if a level wind would hinder an action on deep water jigging when not using live or cut bait. Any ideas would be appreciated.

I don't think a level wind would hinder the action of a jig at all. If you do need a level wind, I'd look at a Penn Fathom in one of the smaller sizes. But you don't really need a level wind...
