I've been invited to fish out of Capt' Hook's. The trips have found everything from yellowtail, lingcod, and Calicos to rockfish and sculpin. I'm taking an SD-8 with a 112h full of 30. Any other ideas?
Having fished the islands and the landings in the Ventura/Oxnard area I would venture a guess that you won't spend a whole lot of time, if any, looking fer yeller tails. They are definitely around Anacapa and Santa Cruz, but it seems as if the captains don't spend a lot of time hunting them, they prefer to go for an easier target, i.e. rockfish. If you do get lucky and have a chance at the yellers, they are some big and nasty homeguards and will surely test your fishing skills, but they also have a nasty habit of popping up and than disappearing as soon as the boat gets anywhere near them. I wish you luck and good fishing! Tight lines my friend!
