I fish with Izor and have boated some high quality fish, with no worries about the strength of the line(the quality of my knots on the other hand is a whole other thing....)lol

Izor is quality stuff.

ITS FOR COMMERCIAL TROLLING APPLICATION.KINGS AND COHOS.
LINE NEEDS TO TAKE A LITTLE ABUSE.
WANT TO EXPERIMENT WITH DIFFERENT LINE AND I WANT TO PLACE AN ORDER WITH CHARKBAIT SOON.
I ONLY WANT TO USE THE BEST,THINNEST STRONGEST ,I WANT MY GEAR TO "GET BIT" AS THEY SAY

I too fish Izor's line on my heavy rigs exclusively. But, I have to add that we have received some interesting feedback regarding the Yo-Zuri Hybrid from a couple of commercial clients in AK who use the heavy 100-130# line for their trolling application. These two skippers swear by the stuff. I was surprised by their interest and success with the line. So, it may have some particular benefits. Since the different materials are extruded together some of the negatives associated with FL lines are reduced. On the troll, I'm surprised it makes much difference, but again these two skippers from AK found it to be great stuff. I would add that they arrived at YoZuri's product after using Berkley and Ande, and did not try Izor. That was my first suggestion to them. But, they are not inclined to switch out at this point. It works for 'em.

Great Stuff!

That's amazing, at least to me: Trolling for salmon is often pretty deep --never less than 30 ft. and often up to 150 ft. or more -- so I can't understand why fluorocarbon line would make a difference. I use straight mono in 20# or 30# test and have never guessed that I'd catch more fish with fluorocarbon leaders...

SMILY,
Go with 100 lb Jinkai for commercial use.

AK,
In South East, when the sea slugs weren't thick, we often caught coho in 10'-12' and sometimes in the propwash. If the stinking humpies were thick we dropped down to 20'-30' and caught coho and an occasional feeder king.

Yea, cohos often are very shallow, although this year they were very deep -- like 80 feet all summer long around Juneau and on the outer coast. For some reason I thought the question was referring to king salmon. But still I wonder: Do you really think flourocarbon would make a difference when trolling for salmon??

That's how it looks to me too, I just sidetracked the thread a bit.

Winter trolling in SE with the lack of algai and the clear water fluro might help but spring/summer I doubt it.

Are you in Juneau? My main ofice was downtown but the facility was at Auk Bay. My home port was KTN but the facilities where from Whitter to KTN. One of my favorit facilities was Hoonah. Oh yea, I guess I should tell you I did maintenance for the AHMS on their shore facilities until an injury put me out of the workforce. I was also involved with the AOC for many years.

Yes, I've lived in Juneau since 1991. I moved up to take a university teaching job which I quit in 2000. Now I repair reels so I can fish 3 or 4 times a week in the summer up here and travel elsewhere to fish a couple times each winter. I can't imagine I'll ever leave Juneau...

AK,
Juneau was too big and busy for me, Kake is more my kind of town. I always hated it when we had to overnight in Angoon.

Do you steelhead fish and if so, have you fished the streams in the Hoonha area? I don't remember the names of the creek close to town and the one by the loging camp (Fish Creek?) but Freshwater Creek was good fishing with an occasional brownie to keep things exciting. The Hoonha dump is a good place to see more brown bear.

I messed up my left leg in Jan '99 and was forced to move in November '99, a big mistake but with no income KTN is a tough place to live. I can honestly say I miss the rain...crazy but true.

Smily,
Sitka is nice and there are more large king salmon to be caught there than around KTN. Crag/Klawalk mght be as good as the Sitka area but I didn't fish the west coast of POW much.

Do you have a power troll or hand troll permit? You might try some Fluro on a few lines and see if it helps. I'd think that if it was to help it would only be on the rare clear day.
