Really due to two different designs it's not an easy comparison. A star drag reel can be buttoned (hammered) down to increase drag to very high levels - if the washers are good ones - without any degradation in casting performance and reel "feel." A lever drag reel has a certain operating range within which it works smoothly, but when you go up too far things go south, and feel and performance suffer. The operating range of drag is wider on a star drag. Very different animals, ah reels by design and feel.

Great Stuff!

Side note, Release will be changing their name. Seems there is a firm that has a tradename, something like Release Fighting Chairs. Took issue with Release Reels. Release Reels could fight and spend upwards of 100K or change names. They will change their name to Truth Reels going forward. No change in the firm, no change in the warranty, just a change in name.

I think there's a Release Boats as well, so they did the prudent thing.

What news, if any, on the re-release (so to speak) of the Release Surf?

A plural use, not possessive. No apostrophe.

"Fuhgeddaboudit" would have been acceptable Brooklyn usage. "Lawyer's" is not. BUT I extend credit for recognition of prior errors ... as a former teacher of Irish descent (who likes to fish) I can extend absolution for minor sins of grammar and usage in a fishing context. I do so here.

I infer from what Chark hasn't said that the re-re-revised Surf reels will arrive later. Fine by me, better late and perfected then on time and buggy.

Steve, do we know each other from another site?
