Has anyone had problems with Salas 6x and Cristy II jigs snapping at around the hook/ring holes ? I have broken 3 or four this season with 2 on my last trip . I gave my friend Keith a 6x Chrome and he broke it on a tuna on the Gambler 2 day . Is it just with the older jigs ? I have a Seastriker that has caught so many fish the paint is gone and it seems fine .

I've seen the same over the years, but the darn things do get bit, which is why we finally succumbed to client requests and brought them in. While I have seen the issue you mention, we have not experienced the same with recent production. I believe Salas has their own foundry, and that may have been responsible for the failure. They are good about replacement so I advise getting hold of the factory. What you reported I've also seen, but not with great frequency. Probably a bad batch, and if yours were a few years old, might just be the same batch for the ones I saw break off at both the ring and the hook side of the jig. They're a good firm, with a good product, but they must have simply had a bad batch. Great Stuff! Mark
