I just have to brag from upon high. John called me two days ago to discuss my Newell Reel that I sent in for a possible rebuild.

I didn't just fry this reel....I FRIED this reel. It's a 448 I think. whatever. I bought it brand new in 2009 as I was heading out for a 15 dayer on the Intrepid.

Things were slow one day when the 50 pound Y.Fshowed up to play. Cool. I hooked one and landed it instantly... SADLY!!!!!! It was my next cast, cast #2 of a brand new reel that we would find out that the fish had rolled over to 150 pounders.

That first run was so brutal, Kevin the Skipper of the Intrepid was pouring water over the reel and it was steaming...... it burned the pee out of me with the side plates.

Well, 1.25 hours and fish gone.

John told me " aw heck, no problem, wee can get this fixed and regreased " YEA BABY!!!!!! Mark has THE FINEST CREW in the Tackle Store Industry with the best people, service, supplies, prices and the most important aspect....." FOLLOW UP AND FOLLOW THROUGH "

I am going 13 days this Dec. and will look forward to using my newell once again. Mark......thank you and Jon and the rest of your fine staff. See you in Dec.

Hi Pigsticker, every once in a while I get really lucky... And, John and the rest of the crew demonstrate that one in spades. We've got a very good crew here, very proud to have each one on our team, and we now have 15 people working here! All of the guys/gal grew into increased responsibilities, they developed within the slot they were hired for, and some grew their responsibilities into a new roles for us. John was the first hire I brought in specifically for me. Other folks were brought into the company to fill specific slots we really needed, shipping, order admin, store service. But, John was someone who could assume broad management responsibilities and he's been a blessing. Glad you recognized that one Pigsticker, I see it every day here...and I'm darn thankful. His customer service ethic is beyond expectation and is at the core of what's needed to grow a not so little business.

Great Stuff!
Mark

Yes you did strike Gold.

I was fortunate to meet quite a few of these fine folks at the H.B. store. They all went above and beyond their duties to see that my needs were met in house.

I look forward to another trip to the store in person.

And once again, thank you, thank you , THANK YOU for brining my reel back from being so far gone that I could smell the decomp. hahahahaha

I'll post you a photo of the fisrt good fish that I take with it in Dec.

All my Best.

Crown Vic. That was a very unfair staement about my Newell.

I took that reel into 150 pound Tuna, by accident. It is a 50 pound MAX reel and I put into a fight it had no chance of surviving at a ratio of 3-1.

That fish exploded on the bait and ran so fast, the reel was smoking and burning the crap out of me. The crew was pouring water on me and the reel.

The only thing that happened was I melted the drags into one piece of mush. That's all. John, who is a Master reel technician at Charkbait spoke to me and said it would be an easy rebuild. No worries. The reel will be onboard the Intrepid in Dec. to fight another day.
