I have not gotton the chance to read the whole site but I will do so over the next few days.

A little about me I am 32 Male from Galveston Tx and a fishing guide. Surf and wade fishing and addicted to hunting big sharks in the surf.

I promote catch and release only fishing and head a small conservation association here in Texas called Wade Extreme Texas for you google heads.

I am looking forward to sharing my tactics with you and learning from you West Coast guys as well. That being said I am a Cali boy also PISMO BEACH FOR 12 YEARS.

Tight lines.

If I can catch it. I can release it.

Welcome Wade! The people on this board are all good people, most busy with work, and when not working, fishing. Lots of good info, look around and start throwing the questions out.

Welcome Aboard ! Its great to have some more Texas input on this board. And when I come back down it will be great having a Charker to maybe go fishing with.
Those Galveston cattle boats are such a pain.

MMM

Wasn't born in Texas, but got there soon as I could.

Welcome Wade. Good info here on the site. You need to go out of San Diego on a mini Long Range someday soon. Got a hog hunt NE of Houston coming up May 25-27 if that interest you. Again, welcome and enjoy.

Louie, I have fished a day trip out of South Padre a few times. Got 20-30 miles out and we caught Bonita and King Mackeral. The King was fun and good tasting. Mine were about 20-25lbs.

I do believe thay have many other species to fish for including Tuna. I just don't think there quite as prevelant as the seasonal Pacific fishing out of southern California. Texas does have some excellent bay fishing for Redfish and Sea Trout.

Mostly 6-pack type fishing boats go farther out. Alot of trolling I've never seen any schooling fish but, have just gone out of south Texas 4-5 times. I have been to Port of Aransas to go out on a party boat but the high seas prevented that. I would still do it again but prefer the San Diego charters.

A day fishing is better than spending the day with in-laws. Fosho

Hey Wade...It's a bow hunt. $200 for the weekend includes 2 nights lodging. Hunt Sat & Sun. Take up to 3 hogs. It's a 10 person hunt. We are scattered in blinds thoughout the ranch. I believe they have 9 people now. There are some peeps from your area going also. Now, I've never shot a bow. But the said they would teach me in 30 minutes. Good folks and good food. Welcome to the forum.

I myself am a Pig Hunting Guide in Ca.

I do have to disagree with anyone, who says they will have you hunting with a bow in 30 minutes.

The animals you hunt deserve better than a 30 minute lesson. All my bow hunters must show me their shooting on targets before going afield.

After all, the Guide is the one crawling thru the brush after the wounded, very angry and aggressive piggies..

YIKES! Eeker

Have fun on the pig hunts.

Pigsticker is giving great advise, its from a professional not interested in you walet only your wealfare.

Would reccomend finding the closest archery club and get a few lessons and practice at least twice a week. You will need to strengthen your sholder muscles in order to be rock steady, develope a smooth release and to get a feel for distance, all of which are critical.

If a guide told you he could teach you to sling iron 50 yds with a conventional reel in 30 min. without ever getting a backlash, what would you say ???

Walt

PS: Welcome aboard Wade!
