Has anyboby heard any type of reports on the negotiations regarding the Islands and fishing them again?

It has been over a year since I have heard anything. Hoping they reopent the islands to us again.

Just read your thread on Allcoast. Give them another chance, most of them are good guys and more than willing to help. I guess the subject hit a nerve with some. If you want a real cat fight go to BD.

I can even be testy at times....like most of the time, and have been booted from more than one board for having an opinion and voicing it.

Hopefully the problem has been corrected, go back to your post and see if it's better.

I too saw the responses to your question, and saw your response. Believe me when I say most of those guys are really good, but the subject of the RV islands is a real sore subject with a lot of them. However, that does not excuse their responses to your question.

I fished the Revillas 6 years straight, before the closure, and had decided to switch to 10 day trips for a change. Unfortunately they were closed for all the wrong reasons, and it's left a bad tasted in a lot of peoples mouthes.

The Royal Star has been going down there for the last couple of years for a tag and release program, and some of our long range boats have been allowed access to Clarion Is. for a day of fishing.

If the Mexican fishing honchos figure out how to attach a special fee for fishing the islands they may be opened up to fishing in the future.

Yea Reel Man. I am a fisher of the Islands and was horribly pissed when they were closed to the L.R. fleet as well.

But, the " Yachties " can still go out there as they grease the palms of the proper authorities. Not to mention, the freakin damage being done in those fisheries by the seiners.

but, now i just stick to the 10 dayers.

I read the reports daily and have watched the Star go to the Islands all these years. They do alot of the tagging trips. Plus the others in the fleet run trips to the 6 mile buffer zone and do extremely well at times.

If the Mexicans would just open the chain back up to the fishing again, that would be great.

It won't be long before they shut down the entire coast to the fleet.
I just hope that never happens.
