May we all pause and remember those who are in peril and have suffured greatly through this tragic fire in So Cal.

We evac'd outta Ramona Sunday night & spent the week at Mira Mesa High School. Found out Tuesday our house was OK but had to wait till Friday to come home cause our water board are:
A. Negligent
B. Stupid
C. Incompetent
D. All the above

We lost our most vital resource (water) in the first hours of the fire because the power source was vulnerable & no backup that worked. So we had to wait days for the system to be brought back up & tested safe.

The people of Mira Mesa can be proud. Volunteers showed up in droves to help out. Donations eventually had to be turned away because there was no more room for stuff! The high school students came out & helped work the kitchen, pass out water, pick up trash, even walked dogs.

Not a terribly bad week, but we were more than ready to get back home...

Happy to hear that it turned out alright for you. In a tragedy, sometimes people pull together, and sometimes there is wild chaos. Sounds like you live in a place with a lot of good people... That's great...

we live very close to the arrowhead fires.

the fire fighters have done a great job, putting the fires out.
we only had to deal with heavy ashes, and seriously bad smoke.

Yup. To my knowledge nobody was shooting at the helicopters...

We did have a few people who turned out to help themselves to all the free stuff.

Just stealing stuff Americans don't want to steal...
