Flounder fishing is very popular back there and although we have them here they get overlooked by a lot of folks.

Up here in Northern Calif. we have Starry flounder and others and the starries are reputed to go to 20 pounds.

I intend to look into this untapped resource this year and spens some time fishing them.

What do youse guys (Grin) fish them with?

Thanks for the kind words of welcome. Yo JanZ, we use squid strips with minnow (quid and minnow sandwich) on a three way rig an drift over structure. We mostly target summer Fluke whish is a very aggressive predator, I have caught them on all sorts of stuff, even top water on occasion.

We catch other stuff too:

Hey esquired, welcome to the board. I know you'll love it. These quys on the left coast really know their stuff when it comes to fishing. I've been a regular visitor to the site and a member for a couple of years now and I've learned a whole bunch.

I have also purchased numerous rods and reels for Charkbait, and I'll tell you, you won't get better service anywhere. The staff are really helpful and always make sure that you get just what you need. I've even visited the store a couple of times when I was in California for vacation, and was really impressed.

By the way, I'm also from Bucks County, PA. I kept a 24' Grady down at West Creek and West Wildwood for a number of years, but I sold it about a year ago.

Well anyway, welcome and enjoy the site.

JanZ , caught quite a few Starries in San Francisco Bay when I was a wee lad . Caught um on Mussels ,Bloodworms , and small smelt . As I remember they were closer to our Winter Flounder than Fluke . Real purdy and verrrry tasty .

I'm the newbee in the tank from Ventura County, CA and saw Hello To All from Bucks Co. PA.

I hail from right across the Deleware in Pennington, NJ. and most recently from Yardley PA. right on the river. Best smallie fishing around not to mention the stripers below the Trenton falls. Spent many a Saturday out of Pt. Pleasant doing the fluke drift and stripers at Sandy Hook.

Now in Simi Valley, CA and fish out of Channel Islands most of the time. Either Capt. Hooks or CI sportfishing( the old Cisco's). Looking to
find out about some other SoCal hot spots. Is the 22nd Street Marina in San Pedro as hot as they are posting for January? Ventura County is about shut down for now except for half moonies.
