Just got word that the "commemorative" reel being built by the "Penn custom shop" for the angler who got the 430-pound [non-IGFA] yellowfin tuna in PV will be a "Raiders-color" 70VS. The Penn custom shop should have it ready in time for the FHS, and the Charkbait booth is usually right across the aisle from the Penn booth; hopefully everybody can have a look at it before it "goes fishing".

The rod was handled by the deckhand, who hooked the fish, then handed it off to the angler. At first they had no idea how big it was, but once they did, it never entered their mind to try to apply for the record. It is still the biggest yellowfin tuna ever caught on rod and reel, and is in fact the biggest one over caught by ANY method. Reel used as a totally "stock" Penn International 50VSW filled with 130-pound braid and a 100-pound mono topshot.
