It's official. The Royal Star has caught a 378 pounder in the cow pasture. a 308, 271 and that absolute monster 378. Their scales onboard are certified yes. Tim, Randy and Brian have certified scales as there is alot at stake on the official weights. The RRIII nailed cows as well. It is looking like it is game the heck on. Good luck to all of you on the up coming trips.

looks like the Charkbait trip needs to be pushed back a few weeks for next year. Good post pigsticker. BLW get ahold of me on my email so I can share my BC adventure...aka dancing with wolves. SDTuna -

I'd love for Chark to puch the trip back 3 weeks. Then, the odds of catching cows is far greater, PLUS, my Deer season would be over and then I could go as well.

This is going to make the next two month hard!!!!!! Rather than offsetting the Charkbait 10 day I'd like to see a 15 day. Life's Tough, Then You Die

I am soooooo much better off on a 15 dayer. That gives us the clients, much more time in the " Cow Pasture " when the fishing is Game on. I hate getting there only to have 3 days tops on the grounds. But either way, all said and done......any trip I can make is really a blessing.

I don't know if it's just me but a 15 day trip feels 50% better than a 10 day one! One of these days I'd like to do a 15 day but targeting other fish, not just a cow hunt.....like an extended "normal" 10 day. It will have to be after I land my 300lb+ YFT though. Life's Tough, Then You Die

I would like a 15 that goes as far south as Alijos Rocks and then based on code group reports meander around looking for the mix bag of species with a verifiable shot at 200# world class YFT 2010 right after thanksgiving dayThis message has been edited. Last edited by: SDTuna, SDTuna -

That would be nice. I believe, that the RRIII hits Alijos on the way to the bank to get the clients warmed up. Then, they hit the Bank. I think that the Intrepid runs the same schedule and stops. Why don't you and I plan a 15 dayer for 2010? Unfortunately, Sept. Thru Dec. is my Deer Guiding season. Plus, I will most likely be doing an Archery Elk bow hunt in CO. in Sept. 2010. Do you bow hunt?

My son got a nice 5 Pt Bull with his Mathews this fall on the White River herd. I can send you the lat/lon for google earth. No need for a guide if you are hunting with a bro or crew and know something about Elk. Think big country hunting for whitetails and you will score. You have to be willing to work after the shot and have the elk down. SDTuna -

39°54'56.53"N 107° 2'8.28"W call me for the specifics, I would also recommend area 2 it takes 15 points to draw. 350 class bulls SDTuna -

350 class huh? That would take a week to pack one out of the mtn's that big. That's about 800 pounds of meat. I'll plug those coordinates into my google earth and look at the area. 15 points to draw? That's about 10 years of applying.

One of these days... But, for now the 10 day trip offers the most variety of catch. And, yes there is the chance for a 200#+ tuna at that range. When you bump up to 15 days it often becomes single purpose towards the cows, and if they're not active, not around, it's a bit grouchier aboard the boat. 15's great to do, but not in the cards for us for a while. Maybe I'll look into that options when...I can go too! As to time of year, the last two years we were a week early. Couple years before that we were the second boat to nail the big ones in '05 and we had some records (for a time, what a year that was). So, year-to-year things vary. But, it's always something to consider. That early fall time has it's benefits (usually) in terms of conditions. We've just had unusually warm water when we hit it the past couple years. It's like prediticing rockfish.... You know, the State does catch surveys and studies the following winter right after an el Nino year. Fished moved as the warm water pushed out the cold...? If you take that as the base, rockfish are threatened. But, if you look at a longer timeframe, the critters population looks much better. Same for the charter timing, I believe, if we look at that timeframe over the course of say five or ten years time our timing is prime. You don't necessarily go for the fish, you go for the going...when and for how long you can do it. 16's great, so is 10, 4, 1 and a half day...when ever you can get away to go, it's a most worthwhile treat! Having said that, it sure would be nice to hop a boat for 15+.... Let me get the little Chark-baby raised for a couple years, and then the wifeski just might want to give me the boot for a couple weeks time!!! Great Stuff! Mark

How come Chark has to be so danged smart? It wouldn't be right to do an EXTRA long trip withoucha Chark. And it is propper to get the Micro Deckie of yours raised up a bit before headin back out on a 10 plus dayer. I am sure that once you " Mini Me " hits about 5 years old, between the two of you, you'll be driving Wifski nuttier than a fruit cake. That is if ya do it right. Get her to the brink. Ya know, where she tells you that if you don't go fishing for at least 2 weeks, don't bother coming home. When yer ready, just give us a heads up. We'll all pitch in to help getcha tossed out of the house. hahahahhahahahahahaha Hey, always ready to help a friend.
