Well, all my kids have flown the coop and my ol' lady loves my new habit (LR fishing) because it guarantees that I will be gone at least one week a year from her!!!!

I have it so good, except for living in the heartland. She asked me the other night if I needed more rods/reels! Imagine that questions???? Over the past year, I have added 5 outfits and she asks if I need another!!! I guess that is what 34+ years of marriage will do.

I hear ya Outhouse. I to live here in the heartland and my Wife just loves it when I LR fish. Between that and all of my hunting, our meat bill from the grocery store is very small.

Plus she buys me schtuff from Charkbait.

Pigsticker, unfortunately, I don't get to hunt much anymore so I spend the year trolling around these sites planning my one fishing trip per year. Heck, this year even my golf buddies bailed on me so I sit here watching TV wishing. I do save about $60 per week from playing golf, so that is even more fishing equipment!

Hahahahahha great anaolgy on the savings Outhouse. I equate costs of everything into a shopping list for fishing and hunting gear as well.

Both of you guys are nuts, but that's what I like about you. No, he's not fishing the Chark 10 day on the Rooster this year, but he's joining a number of us on the boat next year for an 8 day at the end of June that ususally returns just after 4th of July. It's co-chartermastered by Bill Casper and David Choate. Interestingly enough it's the willy/wahoodad charter.

OK here's the joke.
Two Polish construction helpers were digging a hole and moving lumber on Friday when the noon whistle went off. Foreman leaves for the day and says, "See you guys on Monday."

One guy says to the other, "He does this every Friday. What's keeping us from knocking off early, too? He never comes back."

So they decided to take the afternoon off the next week. One was going to go bowling and have a couple of beers, and the other decided to go home to surprise his wife.

Following week, they say "See you on Monday, boss, have a good weekend. They hang for 30 minutes to make sure he does not come back, and off they go; one to the bowling alley, one to his house.

Half an hour later the one who went home shows up at the bowling alley and the bowler asks, "What are you doing here? I thought you were going home to surprise your wife."

He says, "I did. I went home, quietly entered the house and found her in the bedroom in bed having sex with the foreman." Then he says, "I'm never going to do this again, I almost got caught today!"

Now that is funny.

Whew! Thank God he didn't get caught. Can you imagine how mad his wife would be if he got fired for coming home early?

Jon, this is going to be a lot of fun, and we have over a year to talk about it. We'll probably wear out some keyboards along the way.

One thing I don't want you to do is to worry about adding any more tackle to the collection. Pretty much, if you're prepared for those July 5 day trips, you're ready to rock on an 8 day. This will be the latest in the year I've done one of these trips. I've gone three times on Shogun and this will be our third in a row on the American Angler, one of the best operations fishing out of the Big Three. We're leaving Friday the 13th for a 7 day. Jon, what are the dates of your Excel trip? Is it 7/24? I like those dates. Lots of possibilities.

Steve, worrying about tackle is fun at my age. If I weren't doing that, I would be out doing yard work or moving furniture around for the ol' lady. I think I need to find a girl friend or something to stir things up since you say I shouldn't be making any more secret tackle purchases.

My Excel trip is indeed 07/24-07/30. If the trip comes close to last year, I will be one happy camper. Funny part, everyone apologized about the fishing last year. Never got to see Cedros, simply hopped from one patty to another. I struck out on day one but came back strong on day 2.I think I missed out on 3rd place in the jackpot by 2 oz.

I have already started putting things together for the trip. I bundled up my rods last night into my SKB tube. My tackle box has been ready. I now have a PHD in the Bob Sands Knot because I gave up on the allbright knot. Plus I have the Sato kit for the larger stuff. About 10 days out from the trip, I will ship my gear, so the time is drawing nigh.

It sounds like this season is shaping up to be another phenomenal year. The Bluefin, Albies, Monster yellows, etc.

I'll be thinking of y'all out there this summer catching boat loads of fish. I am hoping to be back out and fishing by November.
