Not sure if this is true but I heard that the Channel Islands off of Ventura County is now off limits to fishing and in a few years they're gonna close off Catalina and San Clemente. I'm trying to spread rumors. I'm just wondering if anyone know if this is reality.
largr areas around the Channel Islands were set aside by Pres. Clinton and Grey Davis as a "sanctuary". You can get details from the Dept of fish and game. It actually changes by season. It has cost the state millions.
Yeah, the "kind folks" of one of the way too numerous governmental agencies recently passed an expanded "no fishing zone" area for the Channel Islands. Don't know too much more than that other than the affected areas are suppose to be in areas too deep to normally be fished and they said it wouldn't have too much of an impact to the recreational fisherperson. I'm sure there is info out there if you look hard enough. You may want to check with one of the recreational fishing organizations for further info.
