Does anyone subscribe to this journal? Is it any good?

I used to subscribe to the magazine, but stopped a couple of years ago when they dropped some of the articles I enjoyed. I'm a small boat owner (23' Mako CC) and they shifted more to big boat guys running to the offshore canyones. They are very factual and detailed in their articles -- little or no fluff. BGFJ went through some editiorial shifts over the last few years -- seemed to be looking for their nitch in the saltwater fishing market. I've started to buy again off the newstand, as the articles seem to be more appropriate for what I do. Their 2 or 3 part series on SoCal Long Range fishing back in the late 90s is what got me to subscribe. Very detailed with great information. For a while they had a no BS section on boat reviews that focused on the construction of the boat and not just "purdy pictures" for a while, but they dropped that for some reason. Their articles on properly rigging a "small" boat for offshore fishing are excellent. http://www.biggamefishingjournal.com/ Tightlines, TomThis message has been edited. Last edited by: TGriff,

We get a copy from time to time and the articles are good . More than one of the Editers have fished with us and the Gamblers owner Capt. Bob Bogan has had an article or two printed in it . Chris Bolhman (might still be there)is a good small boat Offshore fisherman and a Canyon Expert . These guys are real good at sorting fluff . Some Months are good for us Atlantic anglers and others go West .
