We have a 1 1/2 day charter scheduled on the Tribute out of Seaforth landing in San Diego. Trip departs Friday January 26 returns Sunday 6am. We'll be fishing Mexican waters, passports required. Cost is $325, includes bunk, bait and permits. Probable destination Punta Colonet Mexico for yellowtail, lingcod and rockfish. Hopefully it's a "freezer special." We'll toss in some useful lures for this charter. Great Stuff! Mark

I have never had the opportunity to fish off the Tribute, what type of gear will be needed and what else should we bring?

We will see as we get closer to the trip. As of last week there were reports of some good bluefin fishing off Colonette. The primary focus is rockfish, lingcod and yellowtail. However, if the tuna are there some time would be devoted to that option. So, the gear requirements may be wider than expected. Personally, I'm thinking a 30#, 40# and perhaps a 50-60# outfit. Eric from our SD shop may also be on the boat and he's thinking of taking an HX Raptor or Makaira 16 along just in case. So, having rockfish oriented gear, perhaps something for yellowtail on the surface and a longshot for bluefin with a heavier rig would all make good sense. If the bluefin move off the area, then drop that rig from the mix. Great Stuff! Mark
