Hi Chark,
I don't see the passenger limit on the charters. What are the load limits and how full are they? I'm interested in the 1st charter - 3 Day to San Clementa Island for two.
Thanks.

It's on the RP website at 35 people. 13 spots left at this time.

Hold on a bit Piggy, Gunmetal is asking about the 1st charter going to San Clemente on the Shogun.
I'm not sure GM but if you can call us at the numbers listed at the bottom of every page on the web site I'm sure we can get you the info you want. Mark Smith is mostly at the warehouse/internet side of Charkbait. Contact him at 1-877-424-2751 Monday-Friday 8AM-5PM, send a email or contact us at the shop and we will get the info for you.

OKay. My bad. I read the first one. I won't talk about the 30 listed but, isn't Mark the one who set's the number's and then establishes the prices?
Either way. Call Chark or the crew at Charkbait. They'll gitcha straightened out.

Pigsticker,
Mark doesn't set the price of any of the charters, the owner of the boat sets the price. Mark most likely will set the number of passengers on any trip to recoup the coast of the charter. So yes he is in charge of the numbers and will make the charters affordable to us by the way of putting people on the boat and limiting the number of anglers. As I see it, it’s a win-win situation

An absolute win-win all the way around.
Hopefully in 2009, I'll get the chance to go on a charkter. My Guiding business and the Shows and conventions always seem to coincide with these fishing trips.
Either way, I still get a kick out of reading the reports form the chark family members.

The boats set a limit on the number of riders, and in the case of the Guadalupe 4 day trip we knock that down some given the style of fishing. There's a balance between numbers and cost, and if things are "too" limited the cost becomes prohibitive in terms of filling a charter. In that case we or the boat eats the difference, and that can really hurt! Size of the boat, style of fishing all enter into the equation in setting a price. The July charter on the RP will be higher than our usual load, but the RP has a lot of fishing room and we probably won't be fishing on the hook. So, there will be ample opportunities for everyone to catch some fish. On a 10 day, things are a bit more relaxed. The SC trip in the spring again has the benefit of a roomy boat for this type of fishing and offers a relaxed time at the rail.
So many charters and so little time! The other guys here are hoping my wife keeps me home so that they can enjoy more trips! Probably Tom will be on the spring trip along with one other fellow from our shop. Then in July my boy and I might get a ride - that depends upon the wife and possible travel back to Crimea for son. Fall trips for me look sketchy this year. But who knows, wife may tire of my pressence and attention.
