It takes a while to load this, so hang in there.

You think your line is invisible, think again. Look closely at the first 3 clips. The monofiliment line glows like a light saber. A condition caused by light piping that the line manufactures do not want you to know about. Light piping is what fiber optics uses to transfer information with modulated light pulses. A majior reason for using tinted line ALWAYS. Why you are seeing more and more tinted Fluorocarbon lines coming out. Interesting to note that the glowing line does not stop the tuna from showing interest in the lure.

Second Point: Notice all the tuna that come right up behind the lure and do not strike it. The only strike is from a tuna coming up from the bottom. What is it that turns the tuna off at the last second. I am thinking bad scent or mabe no scent. Kind of like a dog sniffing your offering before inhaling it. Any one else have other ideas on why the rear aproaching tuna do not strike??

Figure this one out and we all benefit......Big Time.

This is part of something I posted on another board where they were asking about what people fishing in Mexcio can give extra to their guides. The only thing I can think is that the pink Ande line stopped the light piping that you describe but who knows?

Here is part part of the post.
Its funny that you said old line. One time an a trip to the Sea of Cortez we fished pangas and I had Ande pink line on a couple of reels. I was going to swap out line on the reels if needed. Well I gave the pangiero (sp?)a pole to use and he wanted a reel with the pink line on it even though I tried to give him another reel. Well the Ande pink line out fished the other reels 3 to 1 so thats all he and I fished. At the end of our trip I gave him a nice tip and some goodies out of my tackle box. After that he just stood there with this kind of strange look on his face and he didn't speak great English and I only know enough Spanish to order a beer or get me into a fight. Well I work out that he wanted to know if I had any more pink line. I didn't but I told (or showed) him to take off the line that I had on my reels. He left with the line and a big smile.

Now I still use tinted lines in the Sea of Cortez and here too for mainly inshore fishing (green and blue/gray). I have never yet had it play as much of a roll as it did that one time in out fishing clear line 3 to 1.

WALT, THE WAY I SEE IS.......HHHMMMMMMM. LET ME THINK A MOMENT, OKAY GOT IT , YOUR STANDING ON THE TOP OF A SWIMMING POOL, AND YOU LOOK DOWN THE WATER IS CLEAR AND BRIGHT YES. THE PAINT ON THE POOL IS BLUE, SO YOU DIVE IN , AS YOU GO DEEPER AND DEEPER, THE PAINT GETS DARKER OKAY, NOW YOU LOOK UP AND YOU CAN SEE SUN LIGHT AND SEE REFLECTION OF THE SUN LIGHT.THAT IS CALLED MULTIPLE EFFECT FROM ONE STRAIN THAT LOOK LIKES ALOT. NOW YOU SWIM TO THE SHALLOW AND YOU NOTICE THAT SAME REFLECTION TURNS TO ONE. SO WHAT WE SAW THERE WAS AN EXPANSION OF A MONO LINE THAT BLURRED IN THE WATER. TROLL THAT LURE AT NIGHT. WHAT DO YOU SEE.

DRANK TO MUCH, HOPE I MADE SINCE.

There is minimum light at night there for one sees almost nothing. Don't know whats in your glass Louie, but for sure I want some. LOL

I use Izor XXX which has a light blue gray tint. Only know for sure that tinted line helps but not which color is best. So Cal's pink line experience has got me thinking....

I see Ande in pink and grey and the hi-viz lines fished all over the east coast. Makes one wonder if the pink and smoke floro will end up being first choice.

As far as floro goes wouldn't the Seagar knott, swivle or tuna ring stop the "Light Piping" at the connection anyways?

We have always used pink line on our rental rods . It's getting tough to get Ande Pink in 60 or 80 lb out here off bulk spools at the stores . We just split the cost on bulk spools or pay the boat .

On my Dec. 2006 10 day trip, we were all pretty much saving money.

We were using izorline clear and a hot pink highlighter.

I was getting bit as were the other fellers using this technique. I went thru 2 full rotations of my tags.

Louie again red and redish colors are the first to bleed out of the spectrum as you go deeper.

No, really, I did not get it. Do you gotta have a password to slip past the red X monster?
