I was talking to the office of one of the Long Range boats yesterday and they mentioned that PASSPORTS are REQUIRED for all their trips now - since they are going into Mexican waters. The Mexican Navy announced that they will indeed be checking passengers and boarding the boats. According to the boat I contacted, they are advising all their clients to bring along a passport.

If you have a trip scheduled, you should contact the boat's office and check the information I was provided. You can speed the passport office in processing your application if you don't already have a passport...for a price. It would be a major bummer to arrive at the landing expecting to go on a trip only to find out that you can't board the boat because of a lack of passport!
