It is a cool looking video. I have seen it before on a diving web site. It was explained to me. That it came from a Oriental television commercial. Still is a impressive commercial.

The first vid is Stuart Campbell and the line wrapped 3 times over the tip. Fortunately the line broke just after he was pulled out of the boat.

Jeremy,
Thanks for the setting the historical record stright. From the viedo one can imagine all sorts of cause and effects.

When I first saw it the image of some guy flying over the rail so fast it really shocked me. There was no struggle, no hesitation the poor fella just shot overboard. The thought of line entanglement on the rod never entered my mind. All I could think of was the guy setting his double disc drag reel to 35lbs of drag for the first time and not knowing what to expect.
Our imaginations can get carried away. Good to hear the line broke, avoiding a tragedy. But what a great fishing story to tell your grand kids.

Thanks again for posting the facts. I will have to change the title of the thread.

Walt

For some additional info Mr. Campbell holds most of the atlantic blue marlin line class records. This fish would have beaten his old 30 lb class record. If an angler that experienced can get pulled out of the boat it can happen to anyone.

Experience breeds overconfidence.

A rookie would have been scared and more on thier toes.
