As I get a little older I find myself not wanting to put off things I want to do or trips to places I want to see any longer. I don't like the idea of being an old man and thinking how I wished I would have done something. That being said my brother and I have started to get together every year and go on one of the adventures that we always wanted to do. This next year we are wanting to go on a fishing trip together for some bigger fish and I'm trying to figure out what would be the best trip for us. He from the great state of Texas and is experienced at fishing all the local species, however he is a novice at offshore techniques. I was wondering if it would be better to take him on a 4 to 5 day trip on a nice long range boat or do a fly-in trip to Cedros. I know at times guys and even crew on a long range can be a little impatient with a newbie, (understandable with the price for a trip and potential loss of a fish due to tangles etc.) but its nice to have the verity and flexibility a boat offers. I have never personally done a fly-in trip but have talked to guys who have loved them even though you are a bit more limited on species. I really just want my brother to have the best experience possible.
I know there are upsides to both trips, just wondering if anyone had some thought or had taken a novice on either kind of experience.

I will strongly recommend getting booked on one of our charters, and the 4, 5 or six day trips would be perfect for you guys. Do not worry about the crew, they are EXCELLENT, and they take great care of newbies. They will receive assistance, coaching and support. The guys will even do some casting for your bro and get him up to speed. There are no experiences quite like what's offered through the San Diego based long range fleet. We have many clients from other areas, Texas well included, who travel yearly to experience the uniquely wonderful fishing offered. A true long range experience is a fantastic when aboard one of the better boats, and all those boats that focus on the longer trips are professional in all respects.

That's really the kind of trip I want to take. I was on your Red Rooster four day trip a couple of years ago and had the time of my life. Great fishing, great food and a bunch of fun guys to fish with. The past two years that trip has sold out so early that I missed my opportunity. I did get on another 6 day last year but the atmosphere was a bit more intense and the guys weren't nearly as friendly as the group on your charter. Anyway i won't miss it again this year and plan to book your September four day Rooster trip as soon as the schedule is out.

The September trip is now a five day'r and the Rooster is taking reservations now. It's about 1/2 filled as of this writing.
