What a beauty on the Pic of the Week!

Has anyone caught a broadbill?

Any/all details appreciated: month/year, time of day, bait, method, size, length of fight, equipment used, how the fish behaved...

Was the fish stronger than others (especially tuna) in the same weight class?

Well, has anyone witnessed a broadbill swordfish being caught? Are any details (e.g., month/year, time of day, bait, method, size, length of fight, equipment used, how the fish behaved) available vis-a-vis second-hand observation?

This spring we fought one but lost it at the boat. I was the deckhand and not the rod man.

G'morning, and thanks, Keta...

My parents taught me that I can never be unhappy about losing something that I never actually had, but losing any big fish (with the possible exception of a shortfin mako) at the boat would haunt me constantly. Especially a gladiator...

Just seeing the fish was well worth the effort and the high point of the Venice trip.

I caught one in La Paz and it was a nice one. But I lost it at the boat and I was really kind of glad cause I wouldn't want to kill it. And I was kind of torn between showing off and being good. So it worked out well for me!

Oh yeah, don't know what kind of swordie it was. :-)

Titled "Giant Swordfish Attacks Boat", this video might well have been titled differently! You decide.

Sorry, enough of that, here is one method of rigging up a squid bait.
