Hallo folks,
I have an Avet EX4/02 that I use to troll 60#. I need another true 50# hvy bait outfit. Is the EX too heavy for 50# on a 765L/6465XH?

Are there better choices for the stick in this equation?

I use mine for 80 lb (long topshot and backing). It would probably be fine with straight 50 mono . It's such a winch .

It's pretty heavy to jig with and hold all day. I'd much prefer an HX, or an HX Raptor if you can spare the change.

Thanks Ol' Pedro. EX 4/02 really is a winch. First time I got an Albie on the troll with it I said, "heeeyyy, this is nice...". I like it so much that I want to find other uses for it.

ak-fish, I agree it is heavy for jigging. I would probably use it for heavy bait/ dropper loop duty. I'll upgrade my Izorline apron/rod belt with a gimbal pin. I love having the pockets for hooks, weights and temp storage. Are HX/ HX Raptors really that much lighter? I've considered the HX but want to get as much duty as I can from what I have. The less I spend on reels, the more I can spend on, on... REELS!... or, or STICKS... or, or TRIPS or even sparklies for the Mrs....

I really appreciate the input. Any suggestions you folks have are quite welcome.

Lighter is better . I was using a 4/0 hs 60lb and a 6/0 80lb to jig with so the Avet fit better. Keep in mind that we are using 6 to 12 oz jigs at night for LFT/YFT/BFT that are 50 lbs or better .

I've moved mine to fish on the 400 Ahi Assassin @ straight 100# Spectra. At that level I like it a lot and not too heavy. At 50#, probably overkill, but it will work for you just fine. Nice to go lighter, but if she's in the inventory put her to hard use! Darn rugged reel.

Great Stuff!
