Maybe being new to west coast tuna fishing and with recent years of above average tuna runs, what is the major factors for lack of a bite, water temp, color, red crabs.., I am on a three day trip in early August and hoping conditions change in the next few weeks
There have been some big bluefin out there, but most boats have not focused on this hard fishing. In truth, everyone on a boat wants to come back with fish, but the big bluefin don't bite like that and most folks simply have not been rigged properly. One of our clients, private boater, nailed a 288 a week or so ago! Lets see how July plays out.
This is a good point.
Well, well, well, just wanted to update, three trips out this past summer and yes finally paid off on the New Lo An, 140lb Bluefin second week of September
Well done, third time was the charm. Those big bluefin are still biting and so are the 40-60 pounders. Add to that mix the pending state record yellowfin at 265 lbs and we can say this has been and continues to be one of the best fishing seasons we've seen.
