Does any one know how to ready GPS coordinates? Or have a links to help determine where you are in the open sea? I'm trying to find some artificial reefs but haven't the vaguest idea of where i'm at. I have the maps by Fish N Maps and a Humminbird GPS and i still can't make sense of where i'm at. Please help this n00b.

Thanks for the info guys. More specifically i can figure out where i'm close to due to the GPS but how in terms of "Minutes" is it like looking at a clock from the center of the grid? I'm not quite figuring out that part.

Janz, does that mean you are close to the San Fran area?

40 north is up above SF a ways, more like Cape Mendocino, I live in the Eureka area.

If you go to map quest and play around with the charts you will note that on the left side of the screen is a pair of boxes that give you GPS cordinates when you move the curisor around on the chart or map depending on what mode you are in.

Earlier this week I used that feature to pinpoint a reef structure I was interested in fishing and the numbers from mapquest put me right on the structure when I pluged them into my GPS. The most accurate numbers are of course given from the closest zoom.
