Well, the Royal Star pulled another " Hail Mary " out of their hats on the final day of fishing. They hit the mother lode like we did on the exact same trip last year. ONLY WITH A TWIST! The popped a 348 pound super cow.

Here is their report. Good news for the next group departing this weekend.

01/02/08
It started out slow today with a few short stops that produced 8 fish from 30-90lbs.We did pick off a 220 out of a long drift midday but other than that, it wasn't looking very good for that finish up with a bang stuff. At 1600 we shut down on a subtle mark where we've been seeing a few bigger fish throughout the day and settled in for a complete hail mary, hoping they find us with a mere two hours left to fish. After 30 minutes we hooked a giant that weighed in at a whopping 348. As it got closer to dark we were treated to quite a show of 200-300lbers blowing out all around us which coincided with an epic sundown bite. When the dust settled we had 7 from 204-267 and a handful of 110lbers laying on the deck, needless to say an incredible way to finish the trip. We are presently traveling up in beautiful weather and hope to be in by 0800 on the 5th.

Following is a list of anglers who boated fish over 200:

Dave Hall - 348
Doug Luginbuhl - 265, 222
Curt Luginbuhl - 255
Andy Cooperman - 230
Bruce Hutcheon - 225
Kerry Iwanaga - 219
Bobby Edwards - 215
Austin Goddard - 212
Steve Busch - 208
Fred Ledder - 202

Yup PS they pulled it out of their hat. Actually it sounds like the Angler even did them one better. The Angler nailed the cows two days in a row and had two over 300.

God I'm psyched now. I normally get up at 3am but this week I've been up at 1:30 or 2 because I can't sleep.

Just finished my new Super Seeker 6463XXXH and will be flying out in the am to go whack them thar hog's. Yee haw.

Hey, Hoggie, leave that Washiington state weather at home this time! Big Grin

We're getting pummeled here in NorCal. So much rain I might was well be in Seattle.

Good luck with your cow slamming.

I'm writing this down. Weather is Hoghunter's fault. Seemed like such a nice guy, too!

Pigsticker stole my thunder on the Royal Star "Hail Mary"

My fish was the last fish on the boat in the darkness of a bite to remember.

225# by yours truly Bruce Hutcheon, Colorado Springs, CO aka SDTuna.

I would like to express my deepest gratitude for all those who made this trip a success on the Royal Star, Randy, Brian, Greg, Blake, Drew, Jeff and the man who was on my shoulder as the "cow" came up to gaff...My Dream man...Steve.

It was my trip of a lifetime and I am humbles by the fellow fisherman on the boat, Team Connecticut, Team Oregon and Team California were by far the most awesome group of individuals I have ever had the pleasure to fish with.

Dave Rocchi was our host and chatermaster and he is by far the most helpful individual I have ever fished with. Richard Hightower provided us with raffles items and give always.

My set up...

50s
180 # Pink fluro Yo-Zuri
135# spectra
9/0 EC circle 2004
4oz torpedo sinker

I was blessed beyond words.

Congrats SDTuna. I fished that same trip last year and we tore it up only one day due to nasty weather.

Randy has the knack when it comes to sniffing out the fish.

I am hoping that Hohhhunter finally catches his Cow. He was a virgin last year and after all his time on the boards here, he sounds like a 20 year vet! hahahahahhaa

Hogg is a great person and deserves a Cow or Super cow.

Here's wishing everyone on the freshly departed trips much success.

I hope he gets a mount. I caught me first Cow on the same trip last year, a 237 LB'R and for my birthday this year, my Wifezilla is getting me a fish mount of it from Global Fish Mounts.

Then I'll get replica's of my wahoo, yellowtail, bluefin and sharks. They'll go great in our Log home we're building with my trophy room.

My wonderful wife informed me that our new casa would not be adorned with my "cow".

She is happy to hang my Dall Ram though. She thinks its pretty.

Thanks guys and best wishes for those yet to travel south in their personal quest.
