I am looking to try out some of my new gear. Overnight trips would be great. S.B. to S.D. is my area.

From what I read in the Ventura County Star the Sunrise (out of Channel Islands sportfishing) is going out a 4:00am on Friday and Saturdays for halibut. Also the Gentleman(out of Channel Islands sportfishing) is leaving 6am daily for freelance fishing.

I'm heading out next weekend on one of them.

Try the Legend out of Seaforth. They're running trips to Colonet I believe. Our the Pacific Dawn and Pacific Queen.

Colonet

I will agree with above posters the 1.5 dayers at Colonet would your best bet. They have a mixed bag from rock fish, ling cod and a shot at the yellows. If you want to do sooner rather than later they are the ride. For myself I wait till later in the year and fish tuna, sometimes money well spent is money well earned . Just my 2 cents. The only time I caught fish I was fishing.
