Who would a thunk, that ya need to decide if ya want to paddle the canoe or take the motor boat to the mall?????

Such a life decision huh? We went thru the 100year floods here in MO in the spring of 93. Downtown Jefferson City was under 10 feet of water for almost 5 weeks. The devastaion is unfathomable.

I wish ya well in these water soaked times

SD, did you figure out what boat your doing yet? The Shogun trip would have been a sweet one though.
I broke it down as to $283 daily for the RR3 (9 days) And the Intrepid at $290 a day (10 day)
Have not put the pencil to the RS as its a older dinky boat. Might check out the AA also.
So far though I'm leaning towards the Intrepid so new, so light.
MMM
And any of you reading this, If you have trips you can't make its always better to try and sell on the various boards.
Rather than hassle with trying to get money back from the landings/boats. My .02

The Excel is a bargain as much as I hate to say it. At $224.50 per day plus fuel & permits.

AA is $237.50 per day plus fuel and permits

Royal Star is $272.50 a day and is supposed to be all inclusive. I wouldn't hold my breath. I would count on the fuel surcharge at the current rate per gallon.

I am jealous of allof you going out.

Good luck to you alll.

Very true, notwithstanding it has 1 spot left which means 32+ people and the favoritism stories (of which there are many) + its an older Q105 era boat and is reputated to be a really wet boat.

Another smaller old boat, although have heard good things about it.

Another sub 100' boat, I'm thinking BG90 here.

I am jealous of allof you going out.

Were not there yet, and my figures were with fuel/permits.
I'm thinking RR3, with the Intepid a close 2nd. But if Judy calls me again its the Indy, maybe I'll win a new Accurate reel !!

Good luck to you alll.

OH YOU SUCK! Are you on the accurate trip???

I was wanting to go on the June accurate trip, but, the RR3 sold out. YIKES! I am so jealous. That would be a nice reel to win.

So far I have won a Penn Intl. 30 wide II 2 speed. AND on my first ever log range trip in Jan 1998.

That was a great trip.

I just want to settle my car crash case so I can fulfill my dream and do 4 trips in one year.

Then 2 long trips a year, 17 days each, back to back. That would soooooooo rock.

The if could get Olliebear to join me on one, sheesh, we could tear the Tuna up now girlfriend.

SD TUNA...........Here is a brief summary of our outstanding catch of cows from last years Christmas trip. The charter master is Frank Lux and he is a truly, awesome guy to be around.
Be prepared for some fantastic give aways.

The report as found on Bill Roeckers website.
1/5/07

“Tired Old Man”

Frank Lux has been fishing for a long time. He’s 70, and he always seems to come up with a big one. On the last day of fishing aboard the Royal Star, he hooked three big tuna, and kindly passed one off to a buddy. He lost a big one, too; the best one he hooked, he said.

“If you lose a big fish you just get right back out there,” he said at Fisherman’s Landing January 5, after skipper Brett Rouintree docked the rig with 10 cows and Frank’s bull tuna. The trip was a ten-day excursion to southern Baja waters with 23 anglers.

“My best fish before this one was a 250,” said Frank, “and I released it. After this one, I was a tired old man.”

Frank had two giant yellowfin, at 296 and 306 pounds! He remembered the big one well.

“He bit late that day, just before dark. He bit unseen, and he spooled me down to where I could see the pin on the spool, when he stopped. After that, it was just hard work for two hours and 45 minutes.”

At 70 years, Frank Lux is still a great fisherman as this 306-pound yellowfin proves.

Frank Lux baited a mackerel for his 300-pounder, the 16th so far this season, on a 9/0 Hayabusa Magnum circle hook tied to 130-pound Yo-Zuri line and 130-pound Power Pro Spectra backing on a Penn 50 SW reel and a Calstar 6465 XXH rod.

Jim Kirkpatrick got a 292-pounder. No other information was available.

Daniel Burkdoll, 16, goes to Redwood High in Visalia where he is on the track team. He fished with his father Todd (who caught a 62.5-pound yellowtail in December) on this trip, and caught a 271.5-pound tuna.

“My best fish before this was a 45-pound albacore,” he said. “This one pulled pretty hard, for an hour. He made a long run, and then he ran on me again four or five times, every time I got a lot of line back. He took me around the boat twice, and he came up in the port corner. It was fun!”

Daniel fished a mackerel on a 7/0 Eagle Claw hook, with 130-pound Izorline and 130-pound Jerry Brown Spectra backing on an Avet 50 SDS reel and a Calstar 6465 XH rod.

Daniel and his dad, Todd Burkdoll, with a couple of fish from the trip, Daniel had a 271.5-pound tuna!

Frank Lay of Long Beach got his first cow, a 260-pounder, on the boat’s kite rig with a squid.

“I saw the fish crash on the bait,” he said. “Once I got it to the boat, it was a bear. I couldn’t have got it without the crew. It dashed under the boat.

One other angler had a 260.

Chris Sutherland of Amityville got a 247-pounder on his first trip to the West Coast. “I’ll come back next year,” he said. He fished a sardine on a 9/0 EC hook, 130-Izolrine, 130-Spectra on a Penn 70 VSW reel and a Calstar rod.

Chris Sutherland took a 245-pound tuna.

Nineteen year old David Seskin of Richmond, CA caught a 243-pound tuna.

“I got one, and I lost one,” smiled David. “We had a slow start. Windy weather and the porpoise weren’t cooperating. We started catching a few good-sized dorado, a couple marlin, then on the third day, we found the big ones on a school of porpoise. We had at least six to seven hours of flat calm water fishing big tuna. It was amazing! The next day, we headed in to Mag Bay and fished wide-open yellowtail.”

Tom Younce of Cape Girardeau, MO bagged a 237-pounder with a sardine on a 9/0 Eagle Claw hook. He fished with 130-pound Izorline and 130-pound Izor Spectra on a Penn 50 SW reel and a 6460 XXH rod in 30 minutes.

“Thanks to Joey Conrad,” he said, “I got my first cow. My best tuna before this one was 132 pounds.”

John Taylor of Long Island NY is 17. He got a 228-pound tuna with a sardine on a 9/0 Eagle Claw hook, 130-pound Izorline and 130-pound Spectra on a Tiagra 50 W reel and a Calstar 760 H rod.

Bill Taylor, John’s brother, caught a 213-pounder on the same bait with the same gear. Both were on the same trip last year.

My fish came in pretty easy, in 25 minutes,” said Bill.

John piped in, “Mine fought for 40 minutes, because Bill had a smaller fish.”
