Hello,

I am an East Coast fisherman and decided that this site is the friendliest and most helpful on the web. There is another site here in the Northeast but...

Anyway,I have learned allot here but have many questions to follow. Dying to come to San Diego and fish on a 1,2,5,10 or 15 day trip! Have all of the DVD's and live through them, all of you on the West Coast are so lucky!

I will spend most of my time fishing for Cod here in the NE and hope to try some YFT fishing in the canyons and will spend some time in sunny Fla as well.

Enough for now..just wanted to say "Hi" and look forward to learning from all of you and eventually helping those of you who might need advise from a NE perspective.

PS. Charkbait! is the best and I have already spent too much money and can't seem to stop.

Mark, please cancel my order for the Accurate 870 2 speed that I sent last night as the wife hit the roof when she saw me hit the "buy" button.

Hi.

With the travel distance you (we) have I'd suggest 10 day trips or longer, if you like being at sea. If I had the funds I'd do mostly 15 day or longer but 10 day trips like the last Charkbait trip are fun, tough fishing last trip but a good variety of fairly nice fish.

BTW, Don't listen to your wife but sleep lightly.

Welcome aboard. You'll find this site very friendly and informative. Our fishing techniques differ somewhat from your's, but hey it's fishing and that's all that counts.

Welcome! You know, the beauty of the internet ordering is that it is open 24hrs. You should have snuck on at about 3 am when everyone was asleep, then once it came in, simply blame it on sleep walking, or should we say sleep shopping.

Thank you all for the encouragement...my wife is an awesome person and has put up with me for over 23 years now! We have a few important household things that we have been putting off for some time now and waiting a month or two before buying that reel is fair..especially considering the cash spend on custom rods and expensive reels etc.

That reel and a nice new super seeker are in my future...

Fishingeek,

You have awesome bluefin tuna fishing and surf fishing. It's all good and you are so welcomed here in our small chunk of cyberspace called Charkbait forums.

Everyone here has a passion for the LT stand up fishing sport. I would ditto earlier comments that a 10 day is the only thing to consider for you. I live in Colorado and limit my trips to five day and up due to the travel time vs fishing time.

Hope you see you on a trip.

The pregame activities just become expletive! I gotta find MY brand of twenty pound filler spool, not that OTHER STUFF! How big a fish can I catch for another $1,000.00? Whaddya mean I don't know how to rig? Where do all of these people park? WHAT A TRIP! Now what do I do with these fish? I had ALL new gear at the start of this trip... NOW LOOK AT THIS MESS! NEXT time, I am gonna...(use your imagination!). SKUNKED?!?! That's funny, my buddy was telling me last night..."You shoulda been here yesterday!".

Hello Darlin'! How you doin'?

Kenny, my local tackle dealer and friend calls it "Fisherman's Remorse"!

Thank you again everyone,

Looks like I will make my first trek to San Diego in '08 for a 10 day trip. This year I need to have my left hip resurfaced since almost 35 years of pounding it with heavy weightlifting has taken its toll but should be ready to go by the time the tuna run starts in '08. '07 will be devoted to "lighter" fishing and hunting in the fall.

This does seem like a good place to exchange ideas...reaaly looking forward to the future.

The folks at Charkbait, bend over backwards to help you. Beth is the resident " Hottie ".

Olliebear is a real flirt. Watch out for him.

Thanks pigsticker,

I would love the chance to go on a 2008 15 day trip. Please keep me in mind when you are planning that trip. Work obligations require very careful planning but I can get away for that period of time once every year or so.

By now I have spoken everyone at Charkbait and they are ALL great people! Want to meet them in person some day.

Welcome aboard--there are a few of us Eastcoasters on the board here. Very friendly and helpful and site.

For your first trip, try a 5 day trip to make sure you like it. August/September are the best months.

Welcome aboard the friendliest, no flamin', smack dab, redneck-iest, board.

I've been on here since 2002-2003 or so and have given Beth our black socked bass assassin grief ever since.

Mark the Chark and his gang are the greatest and prices are tough to beat. Really great customer service too.

Yup, plan for a 10-15 dayer to make it worth it. That's a trip tha as Piggie can tell you, will have you talkin' and braggin' for years.

Perhaps we can get Chark to do a 15 dayer and we can all jump on board and get riotous. With Piggie, you know we're in for "sheep" thrills.

Let's git this going now.

I have this really strong feeling that if we do pull this off, there'll be things happen on that boat that could never be discussed in public.....legally?
