Fished aboard the Eclipse Friday through Sunday, got back home at about midnight. Great bunch of guys, about half had been on previous charters and were very good sticks. Lots of big bluefin, fairly close in 35 miles and less. But, they'd been getting hit by the commercial fleet hard, very skittish fish, would not stick around at all. Once the boat got close they were gone. Only two bluefin caught, one on a popper the other on a jig. We saw bunches, but they were spooked. Mix of sardine and anchovies for bait, the fish we caught were full of 'chovies. Further up the line the first albacore of the season caught off the 43... It's going to be an interesting season. Really very good grade of bluefin out there.
