the permit you have paid for is to allow you and everyone on board to fish the mexicans water.

this new permit that cost about 3.82 per day to allow you to fish the lupe.

from what i gathered the following royal polaris, shogun, royal star, searcher, and the q 105 have there permits . the rest of the boats ( longrange ) will come soon.

dont know the reason why with this new permit.

Hey guys...I briefly spoke with Capt. Mike Lackey of the Vagabond about this last month. There are a lot of politics involved with the Mexican government about fishing Mexican waters and Guadalupe Island likes to seperate itself, kind of like a wildlife preserve or sanctuary.

As I understand it, all fisherman must purchase a permit to fish Mexican waters. All boats going to "The Lupe" must purchase a seperate permit to fish the waters around the island. I don't remember paying extra last year to fish Lupe. What I do remember was that the fishing was outstanding. The yellowfin wore my butt out and the "Tax Man", that being the Great White Sharks, had me backing away from the rail. Smiler

All I can say is Thank God - I'm on the RP the last 5 days of August.

These new lupe permits are not a good sign of things to come - take advantage of this fishing while you can...

Fisheye - I'm on a 5 day limited load on the Royal Polaris - Aug 26-31 - mostly neighbors and friends from the Tuna Club...

I'm hoping the boats that hit the lupe in the next couple of weeks get the scouting in and find some decent YFT fishing... I've sure had some memorable trips to the lupe and look forward to that island every year...

Good luck on your trip - be sure to post the outcome of your trip.

I just got a message from Art Taylor, Captain of the Searcher, that they received their Guadalupe permit yesterday. It is a two year permit and is a sign of good things to come.

Several boats now on the lupe - can't wait to hear some initial results...

I leave on the RP on Sunday with a bunch of great friends and neighbors - having trouble sleeping - taking way too much crap - as always...
