Jumped on the Pacific Dawn out of Ventura
for an overnight adventure hunting the elusive
WSB. Made a bait stop for squid about 2 in the
morning. Plugged the bait tanks in about an hour with all 19 of us pulling squid up from the deep. Back to bed and up at 5am. Then at about 5:30 am the bite goes ballistic. In
20-30 min. it was all over with. Limits on the
boat in record time. 4 other boats were in the same area and they all limited out. Nothing fancy just the standard dropper loop 6-8 oz of lead, 3ft leader of fluoro 25-30 lb and a
5/0 to 7/0 jay hook or circle hook. These fish were not giants. Would say they ranged from 12 to 25 lbs. Spent the remainder of the day limiting out on rhe rockies. One angler decked a 26lb Halibut Which BTW are a much better grade then the local beat to death
Attached is a small video of the WSB catch for your entertainment.
